While most of this series have been released years before now, the premiere of a new season and episode is the source of excitement in the anticipating fans. This list has been compiled based on ratings, social media wave and how successful these TV series has been since its first date of the premier.
10. GOTHAM
Coming in as the tenth most watched TV series is the America crime drama created by Bruno Heller. The series centres on DC comics favourite characters JAMES GORDON and BRUCE WAYNE (Batman). It premiered on the 22nd of September 2014 with actors like Ben mc Kenzie, Donal Logue, and David mazouz making the cast. Mc Kenzie starred as James Gordon, and David mazouz as Bruce Wayne among other stars. Four different seasons was released after the success of the first one. The latest one which is the 5th season was premiered on the 3rd of January 2019, given it the massive rave it’s enjoying at the moment. The final episode of the fifth season which is also the 100th episode of the series was aired on the 25th of April 2019.
9. GREY’S ANATOMY
Grey’s Anatomy is an American drama TV series which premiered on the 27th of March 2005 on ABC (American Broadcasting Company). The series is based on the interns, resident and physicians of a hospital as they developed into experienced Doctors while trying to balance personal life and relationship. The series was majorly shot Los Angeles, California. The series was written and Co-produced by Shonda Rhimes; other Co-producers includes Krista Vernoff et al. The movie stars Ellen Pompeo in the lead role as she plays the role of Dr Meredith Grey. Grey’s Anatomy keeps having the occurrence of a change of casts with only a few starting from the first season till the fifteenth season. The series has bagged many awards and nominations, and it’s the longest running scripted series to be aired on ABC.
8. LINE OF DUTY
Line of duty is a British TV series about police procedures created by Jed Mercurio. The series premiered first on the 26th of June 2012 and went on to be the best performing BBC two’s drama in a decade. Line of duty current has five seasons which is made up of 26 episodes; the sixth one is reported to be on the way. Martin Compston, Daniel Mays, Craig Parkinson are among the star cast of this series. It came 3rd in a poll of best British crime dramas of all time; it is also the highest ranking current series in a list of best cop show of all time on BBC. The series has the Royal TV society and Press Guild Award for best drama series in its bag.
7. THE WALKING DEAD
The walking dead is a horror TV series for AMC; it is based on the aftermath of an apocalyptic period. It’s an adaptation of the comic book series by Robert Kirkman and co. It features a large number of casts as a survivor of a zombie apocalypse constant under threat of attack from mindless zombies. The series premiered on the 30th of October 2000 and has gone on to have eight other seasons; the tenth season is set to premiere in October 2019.

The Act is an American internet TV series about real crimes; it premiered on the 20th of March 2019. The movie centres on the real life of Gypsy and her mother. Joey King played the role of Gypsy while Patricia Arguette stars as Dee Dee Blanchard, the mother. Nick Antosca, Michelle Dean et al. were the Co-executive producers of this series. It’s still in its first season, and it has an excellent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, IMDb and Google users. It has 91%, 8.5/10 and 95% ratings respectively on these platforms.
5. STAR TREK: DISCOVERY
The America web TV series is the fifth most popular TV series currently. Its second season was released between Jan 17- April 18 2019, and it has since enjoyed a massive reception and relatively good reviews from critics.
4. CHILLING ADVENTURE OF SABRINA
Warner Bros produced the American supernatural horror internet TV series in conjunction with Berlanti production and Archie comics.it was developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sara for Netflix. It was released in two parts with is second part hitting the internet on the 5th of April 2019
3. THE MANDALORIAN
The American space web TV series is set to premiere on Disney+ on the 12th of November 2019. It is set in the star wars universe and would take place after events of Jedi’s return. The series stars Pedro Pascal, Nick Nolte, among others. The anticipation of the series has been very massive.

It’s another apocalypse series from the producers of Z nation. Karl Schaefer and John Hyams created the series. Its first episode consisting of 8 episodes was released on Netflix on April 11th 2019 and has since gone on to be 2nd most popular TV series.

Game of Thrones is the most anticipated TV series for the year 2019, it 8th seasoned premiered the 14th of April 2019 and immediately had over a million views in the U.S. The previous seasons of this series has broken many records and bagged numerous awards. It unarguably the most popular TV series of the year, two of the episodes released from its final season has recorded over 11 million views in the U.S alone already.
